One quick hockey term I want to mention.... the unanswered goal. I have a prime example. This past Thursday I was invited by my friend Judy to the Vancouver Canucks vs Columbus Bluejackets. The game started like this:
Canucks score 1-0
Canucks score 2-0
Bluejakcets score 2-1
Bluejackets score 2-2
Bluejackets score 2-3
Bluejackets score 2-4
Bluejackets score 2-5
Bluejackets score 2-6
Final score 6-2 Bluejackets.
You could use the term unanswered goal twice during this game. First you have the Canucks scoring two times. Then you have the Bluejackets "answering back" with not 1 but 6 goals. They went on to score 6 unanswered goals because the Canucks couldn't get the puck in the back of the net again at all. Had the Bluejackets not scored any goals then the Canucks would have had two unanswered goals. So in short an "answered goal or goals" is any goal scored and the other team can't "answer back" with a goal. If a game has a 1-0 final that would mean there was 1 unanswered goal. Friday night however there were 6. So Columbus congrats on your win and answering back.
