Last night's Canuck game against the Detroit Red Wings was not a particularly fun game to watch if you are a Canuck fan.  Cory Schneider was in net, which may surprise some hockey fans.  With 37 shots against him during the game, 2 snuck past Schneider, both in the 2nd period.  The Canucks did come close to tying the game.  Cody Hodgson got a goal in the last second of the 2nd period but officials didn't count the goal after video review.  Alex Burrows came close in the 3rd, hitting the cross bar off the Detroit net.  That cling sound when the puck hit the cross bar made every Canuck fan cringe.

Vancouver fans don't get discouraged.  This is hockey.  Canucks seem to do this during October every season.  Last year they had a poor start and went on their 17 game points streak December/January.  Then lead nearly the rest of the season in points to win the President's Trophy for #1 in the league.  Watch the Canucks play the Edmonton Oilers Saturday night.  Last game of a 4 game road trip.  The Canucks have 6 games remaining after Edmonton this month, 5 of which are at home.  With the fans in their corner anything can happen.  Go Canucks!

Miikka Kiprusoff made hockey history last night with his team's win in Montreal against the Canadiens.  Kiprusoff can proudly say he has the most wins as a goalie in Calgary Flames history.  If we talk numbers it was Kipper's 263rd win in 483rd games as a Flame.  Interesting Fun Fact: Kipper set this record and beat former Calgary goalie Mike Vernon.  Funny enough Kipper accomplished this in 43 fewer games then Vernon.  Go Calgary!

Winnipeg, Winnipeg, Winnipeg.  How Canada only has eyes for Winnipeg right now.  I bet if you asked any Canadian hockey fan who they're secretly rooting for after their #1 team it would be the Winnipeg Jets.  Winnipeg is basking in the happiness having their beloved Jets returned to them after a 15 year team napping.  The Jets played the Chicago Blackhawks last night and had the Blackhawks playing catch up until late into the 2nd period when the hawks took the lead.  Kyle Wellwood (former Canuck) potted a 3rd goal for the Jets but Chicago ended up winning 4-3.  The Jets play again on Saturday against the Phoenix Coyotes.  Watch.  It would be fantastic if we could see the new Jets beat the team that originally stole them from Winnipeg.

Hockey History:  The Original Winnipeg Jets moved franchises to Phoenix becoming the Coyotes in 1996.  Then in 2011 the Atlanta Thrashers franchise was moved to Winnipeg.  Forming the new wonderful talented Winnipeg Jets.  GO JETS!  X
