The Vancouver Canucks beat the Columbus Blue Jackets at Rogers arena, to make it there 1st 5 game win streak all season. Now we are starting to see the 2 top lines score. Daniel Sedin opened up the scoring. Funny enough that assist did came from his brother Henrik. Alex Edler fed him the puck from Sami Salo. David Booth scored his 4th of the season. We are now starting to see why the Canucks took Booth from Florida earlier this year. Both those goals were scored in the 1st period and then it was a scoreless 2nd period. Columbus scored a few minutes into the 3st period to make the score 2-1. Then after skating to the bench to get a new stick after his broke Ryan Kesler scored his 5th goal of the season. Kesler was off to a slow start this year and now has 6 points in 5 games. Then to finish it off why not have Alex Burrows pot an empty netter. That is what happened, with less then a minute to play.
Canucks play the Nashville Predators thursday night at Rogers Arena. One of my personal favourites is playing in town, the handsome Shea Weber! And check out Ryan Kesler's goal after replacing his stick last night "in if you need a visual". Watch it a few times and try to keep you eye on Kesler, see how he never leaves the game.
With two NHL teams on the same day firing their head coaches you knew people where going to be paying attention to there games today. Washington Capitals new head coach is Dale Hunter and Kirk Muller is now the top guy for the Carolina Hurricane. It is not rocket science why these teams made the moves. Washington has 25 points in 23 games. Maybe Hunter will be able to get Ovechkin going? Washington is a team that always gets a lot of hype. Some where in there they fall short. Almost always they make it into the playoffs but have never won a Stanley Cup. Kirk Muller might be able to turn around the Hurricane's season this far. With only 20 points in 26 games played. They sit 14th out of 15 teams in the east. Both teams lost last night with the debuts of new coaches. Give it a few games, work out the kinks and see what happens.
Note: Cory Schneider was awarded the 2nd star of the week by the NHL. Only behind Sidney Crosby as 1st star, with his return to the line up last week, after almost a year out of the game.
