#72 Erik Cole and #67 Pacioretty
Neither the Montreal Canadians or the Tampa Bay Lightning are heading to the post season.  Both teams have known this for a while.  But last night in Montreal proved both teams were still in a fight and both wanted to win badly!  Steven Stamkos is 2 goals away from hitting the 60 goal mark in a single season.  Only 20 or so other players have managed the feat.  Montreal has a chance to finish 14th instead of 15th if they win their remaining games and NY Islanders lose.  Montreal netminder Carey Price is out with a concussion and backup Peter Budaj was between the pipes.  Stopping 14 of 16 shots.  Tampa Bay also played Sebastien Caron in only his 3rd game this season.  Montreal was trying to keep the puck away from Steven Stamkos who scores over 26% of Tampa's goals.  Tampa was trying to get Stamkos the puck so he could attempt to hit the 60 goal mark.  Montreal scored 1st with a goal by Alexei Emelin.  Tampa Bay Captain Vincent Lecavalier scored to end the 1st period 1-1.  Erik Cole scored 2 goals in the 2nd period to make his total 34 goals on the year.  It was 3-1 to end the 2nd.  Bruno Gervais scored early in the 3rd to get Tampa within one goal but then Max Pacioretty scored twice to make his total 32 goals this season.  Stamkos did register 4 shots on goal but maybe he was just waiting 'til tonight to get to 60 in front of his family and friends in Toronto.  Stamkos is from Markham, Ontario after all.  Perhaps Stamkos will get a hat trick and hit 61!  Wouldn't that be lovely!

#44 Todd Bertuzzi
Former Canuck and current Red Wing Todd Bertuzzi scored the winning goal in a shootout last night. This game was a heated one between the Detroit Red Wings and the St. Louis Blues.  St. Louis wanted to win to get closer to 1st in the west and Detroit with a win would move into 4th place in the west.  It was a scoreless 1st and 2nd period with Wings goalie Jimmy Howard making 20 saves and Brian Elliott of the Blues making 19.  Then into the 3rd period David Perron scores short handed and Andy McDonald scores unassisted to make it 2-0 St. Louis. Just shy of 4 minutes later Johan Franzen scores assisted by Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi.  Then less then 3 minutes later Johan Franzen assisted again by Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi score.  Tie game 2-2.  Jimmy Howard still made 5 saves and Brian Elliott made 4 in the period.  A scoreless OT meant a shootout.  T.J Oshie, Andy McDonald and David Perron were all denied by Jimmy Howard.  Pavel Datsyuk and Jiri Hudler were denied by Elliott then Todd Bertuzzi took his shot, scores and Detroit wins 3-2!  That makes it 10 shootout whens for Bertuzzi!  St. Louis sits 2 points behind Vancouver and Detroit moves one point past Nashville for 4th in the west.  Check out the shootout below!
