Who is Adam Henrique? For one he is super cute. One of the best smiles in hockey. At 6 feet tall, with green/hazel eyes Henrique is one player any woman can appreciate especially with his Portuguese heritage.
Henrique was drafted 82nd overall in 2008 by the Devils. There must have been something in the water because Henrique is from Brantford, Ontario the same hometown as Wayne Gretzky! The Great One!
I remember Henrique as the guy who scored the overtime goal against the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Finals last year to send the Devils to the Stanley Cup Finals. Henrique also scored the double OT goal against the Florida Panthers in the 1st round of the playoffs. So Henrique is basically the OT game winning goal guy for the Devils.
Little Fun fact about Henrique? Henrique has registered a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (goal, assist and fight in the same game) in his Rookie Season. Henrique fought Jarome Iginla, and went on to score a goal and an assist another later in the game against the Calgary Flames. Adam was also nominated for the Calder Trophy in 2012 which is an award awarded to a rookie with fantastic play at the end of the season.
I have been a Volpatti fan for a few years now. I think he is one of these best looking guys in hockey. I feel like if the whole hockey thing doesn't work out Volpatti should get a career walking cat walks in Europe. Can't put my finger on it but there is something about him. What do you need to know about Aaron Volpatti or Peppermint as I call him. Peppermint Patty, Aaron Volpatti, I think that is the connection comes from is:
Volpatti was never actually drafted into the NHL. He was picked up by the Vancouver Canucks as a free agent in 2010. Before that Aaron was playing hockey and studying Human Biology at Brown University. Volpatti was the Captain of the Brown Bears and spent 4 years with the team.
Volaptti is what you call a 4th line grinder. He isn't expected to score a lot of goals or even get tons of ice time. Volpatti job is to shake it up on the ice. Keeping a physical presence and dropping the gloves when he has to. Dropping the gloves is something Volaptti never shied away from.
If there is one single reason to pay attention to this player it is his strength. I am not just talking about his physical strength but his inner strength. When Volaptti was playing junior hockey in BC his team went on a camping trip in the summer. You know that whole team bonding thing. Volpatti ended up in a bonfire accident and burned over 35% of his body. With parts of his face and abdomen were burned, Volpatti spent 5 months in the hospital and was told he probably wouldn't play hockey again. Perhaps when Volaptti heard "never" he really heard "would" and Volpatti fully recovered. It didn't happen overnight. It took a few more years of playing Junior hockey but Volpatti moved to the college level and then to the pro level. Having played for his home team the Vancouver Canucks (Volpatti is a native of Revelstoke, BC) he is now going to be playing alongside Alex Ovechkin, Alex Semin, Joel Ward and Braden Holtby. And perhaps he will have tea with the Obamas? Who knows. All I know is that Vancouver will miss this tall handsome man! Good Luck in Washington Aaron!
