It wasn't pretty watching Vancouver lose to Minnesota last night.  BC boy Dan Hamhuis opened the scoring making it one 1-0 Vancouver and then that was about it.  Cory Schneider was between the pipes and he was by far the best player on the team.  Cory made 40 saves on some amazing shots that the Minnesota Wild made.  The Canucks play again against the St. Louis Blues tonight.  Lets hope they had a couple beers after the game, forget about it, get on their plane and play tonight like we know they can and beat St. Louis.

The Edmonton Oilers shut out the Los Angeles Kings last night.  The interesting fun fact about this win is that is makes it 6 straight wins for this youthful Edmonton team.  This is the 1st time Edmonton has won six in a row since March 2002.  Wow.

Everyone's 2nd favourite team right now the Winnipeg Jets got their 1st shut out of the season.  They beat the New York Islanders 3-0.  Evander Kane opened the scoring then was awarded one of the best things in hockey to watch, a penalty shot.  He didn't score on it, the puck went off the post but Winnipeg did go on to win the game.  This is the first shut out win for the Jets since being relocated.  Go Jets!

Jarome Iginla proved yet again last night why he has a reputation in the NHL as one of the classiest players.  Calgary beat the Detroit Red Wings last night and Iginla scored goal 2 and 3 putting the Flames ahead 3-1.  Detroit pulled their goalie in the final minutes and who went in to score on the empty net?  Iginla, but what did he do?  Passes to team mate Olli Jokinen so he could register a point in the game.  Jokinen could have passed it back to Iginla who have gotten a hat trick but he didn't, which is fine.  But that just shows who Iginla is, an all around stand up guy.  It reminds me of a game last season when Aaron Rome a defence player for Vancouver took a shoot on an empty net.  Now keep in mind that Rome had never actually scored a goal since being with the Canucks.  Assists yes, goals no.  Well Henrik Sedin skated down the ice and protected the puck the entire time never once touching it.  It went straight into the net and Rome was credited with his 1st goal as a Canuck.  These are the players we love to see play.  They play hard, score, named Captains, leaders in the locker room and realize the game is a team effort and it is not all about them.  Go Iginla!  Check out Rome's in "If you need a Visual"
