What a second round series it is turning out to be.  Can I Say "Holly Holtby" and Los Angeles oh Los Angeles!  There were two games played last night and it went like this:

Captain Callahan, Netminder Holtby!
I once heard a rumor that Alex Ovechkin can score a goal from anywhere on the ice?!  Last night Ovechkin proved he can score a goal from anywhere on the ice.  In a heated battled between the first seed in the east New York and the underdogs Washington. It was any teams game.  New York won the 1st game and Washington came out guns blazing.  It was Mike Knuble and Jason Chimera scoring goals less then 5 minutes apart to give Washington a 2 goal lead in the 1st.  But before the period ended Brad Richards scored for his team and it was 2-1. The scoreless 2nd period meant Washington would win if they kept their lead for 20 more minutes.  Leave it to a Captain to show his team the way. Rangers Captain Ryan Callahan scored 7 minutes into the 3rd, tie game 2-2.  But leave it to a Captain again to show his team the way. Washington Captain Alex Ovechkin scored the game winning goal less then 6 minutes later!  Game Over!  Washington wins and the series is tied 1-1.  It is becoming a showdown of the goalies in every series.  King Henrik stopped 22 of 25 shots but rookie netminder between the pipes for the Washington Capitals Braden Holtby stopped 26 of 28 for the win!  Holly Holtby!  This kid is amazing.  The kid only played 21 NHL games total before being thrown in the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Called up from the AHL in 2012-2011 for 14 games and 7 this year.  Injuries to Washington's #1 and backup mean Holtby is in net knockin out the Stanley Cup Champs and keeping up with the top team in the east.  LOVE IT!  Below you can check out Ovechkin's game winning goal!

The game was very physical to say the least

New York celebrated a goal but it wasn't enough.

Quick stops the puck any way he has to.
In the west the Los Angeles Kings dominated Game 2 against the St. Louis Blues.  These both got off to not a strong start in the regular season.  Both teams let go of the head coaches in the fall.  St. Louis is now coached by Ken Hitchcock, Los Angeles has a Sutter Dynasty brother in Darryl Sutter behind their bench.  And not that head coaches get all the credit but man have these two men turned these teams around.  Los Angeles won the game 5-2.  They took an early early lead with 4 goal in the 1st period alone.  Mike Richards scored 31 seconds into the period.  Followed by Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter and Anze Kopitar again scoring 3 goals in just over 5 minutes to end the period 4-0.  St. Louis came back in the 2nd and Andy McDonald scored 18 seconds and they were on the board, 4-1.  It only took a minute for King Justin Williams to score and they again had a 4 goal lead.  Matt D'Agostini scored for St. Louis in the 3rd but it wasn't enough.  Los Angeles wins Game 2 and leads the series 2-0.  Now the teams fly to Los Angeles for games 3 and 4.  This series is eerily similar to the Los Angeles/Vancouver match up in Round 1.  LA Captain Dustin Brown picked up 3 assists in the game.  Quick did his thing and stopped 27 of 29 shots.  Brain Elliott who has been an amazing goaltender all year had a rough night and let in 5 goals on 21 shots.  Wait and see what happens in Game 3 it is going to be entertaining.  Below check out Mike Richards goal and Andy McDonald's goals!

Brian Elliott is a great goalie but Kopitar got not only one but two shots past him last night.

Again, anything to stop the puck.
There is only one game being played tonight:
The New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers play at 4:30 (Flyers lead the series 1-0) Enjoy!
