There were 9 games played in the NHL last night and here is a recap of them.

The New York Rangers shut the door on the Boston Bruins 3-1.Ryan Callahan, Ryan Mcdonagh, and Artem Anisimov all scored for New York but the night belonged to goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.  Lundqvist stopped 42 shots!  The Bruins goalie on the other hand only stopped 17 of 20 shots!  The New York Rangers are 1st in the Eastern Conference with 79 points and on a 4 game win streak.

The New Jersey Devils beat the Buffalo Sabres 4-1.  The New Jersey Devils can thank the man to your left, Ilya Kovalchuk!  Kovalchuk scored 3 of the 4 goals and assisted on the one he didn't score.  Kovalchuk has now scored 25 goals this season and netted his 12th career hat trick.  Kovalchuk also had the most ice time of any player in the game, he played over 25 minutes!  Jason Pominville scored the lone goal for Buffalo and Lindy Ruff, head coach of the Sabres made his return to the bench after missing a few games with broken ribs from a puck hitting him at practice.  New Jersey sits 6th in the east with 68 points.

The St. Louis lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1.  This games moment of heat might have been in the last 2 seconds of the 3rd period.  A goal was scored by St. Louis with 1.8 left in the game but the officials back in Toronto disallowed it saying that the puck was put in the net with a glove.  Not allowed.  Columbus gets their 17th win this year and you can see the goal with less then 2 seconds left in "If You Need a Visual."
The Detroit Red Wings beat the Dallas Stars 3-1.  The big deal about this game is it was Detroit's 21st consecutive win at home, breaking the ALL TIME record of 20 set by the Bruins in the 1930s and the Flyers in the 1970s.  GO Detroit GO!  Detroit is leading the league with 80 points!
The Anaheim Ducks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-1.
The Nashville Predators beat the Chicago Blackhawks.  Chicago is on a 9 game losing streak.
The New York Islanders beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-1.
The Calgary Flames beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-1.  Five different Flames scored including Jarome Iginla, Olli Jokinen, and Alex Tanguay.

The Ottawa Senators shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-0!  Erik Karlsson scored the 1st goal for Ottawa in the 1st period assisted by Jason Spezza and Bobby Butler.  Then it was all about Jason Spezza, the man to your left in the 2nd and 3rd.  Spezza scored the next 3 goals for the win.  Spezza has now scored 25 goals this season and assisted 35 others.  The 3 goals for the hat trick by Spezza was his 4th in his career!

Tonight's line up in the NHL is short.
The Anaheim Ducks play the Pittsburgh Penguins at 4:00pm
The Boston Bruins play the Montreal Canadiens at 4:30pm
The Ottawa Senators play the Florida Panthers at 4:30pm
The Toronto Maple Leafs play the Edmonton Oilers at 7:00pm
and finally the Vancouver Canucks play the Colorado Avalanche at 7:00pm.  The Canucks have reason to celebrate the return of the man to your left Chris Higgins.  Higgins has been out of the lineup for a few weeks and missed the last 6 games.  Arguably one of the strongest and most consistent forwards, Higgins is a clean smart player, who rarely takes penalties, protects the puck and finds scoring chances.  At six feet tall he is also very handsome!  Go Canucks Go!
