The Ottawa Senators are heading to the playoffs with a 5-1 win over the New York islanders. They did this without the help of team Captain Daniel Allfredsson who was out with the flu and Jason Spezza who was with his wife welcoming their 2nd child into the world! NY Islanders scored 1st but Kyle Turris scored to tie and end the 1st period 1-1. Ottawa scored 3 goals in the 2nd and again Kyle Turris scored in the 3rd for his 4th goal in 4 games and a 4 point night with 2 assists.
In a possible 1st round match up the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-4. Pittsburgh scored 2 goals, Philly came back and answered with 5 straight, then each team scored one more. That is all I am going to say. This is how the game ended. These 2 teams meet up once more in the regular season but possibly 8 more times if they face each other in the playoffs. Can I please get a cleaning crew for the ice and mediators for the coaches?
The Minnesota Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in a S/O. Patrick Kane scored twice for Chicago in regualtion and in the S/O but it was Wild Devin Setoguchi who scored the winning shootout goal.
The Boston Bruins beat the New York Rangers 2-1 in regulation. Marian Gaborik scored in the 1st period for NYR but in the 2nd period Dennis Seidenberg and Patrice Bergeron scored for Boston.
The Edmonton Oilers beat the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 as well. All 3 goals were scored in the 1st period and all 3 goals were scored by players named Teemu. Teemu Hartikainen scored his 1st goal 15 seconds into the game and his 2nd goal of the night less then 6 minutes later. Teemu Selanne of the Ducks scored at 14:12 in the 1st and that was that.
Tonight's line up is very brief:
The Washington Capitals take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at 4:00
and the Edmonton Oilers take on the Los Angeles Kings at 7:30 Enjoy X
