Hello Everyone!  How are you?

What a busy weekend it was for me.  Between Canuck scrimmages and my son starting hockey I spent more then enough time inside rinks.

It got me thinking....... people often ask me what made me start a show about hockey?  Truth is, 2 reasons.  1) In a city like Vancouver you can't avoid hockey.  Weather you cheer for the Canucks or Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Detroit, LA or Calgary, hockey fans are everywhere!  And 2) I have a son who asked me when he was 2 years old of he could change his name to Sidney Crosby Hunter and insisted on shooting pucks as soon as he could pick up a stick.

Those 2 reason made me start wanting to learn about hockey.  The best way I found was to just listen.  Whether is be listening to my Dad, Brother, friends and customers at work everyone has an opinion and everyone could teach me a fact about the game.  As luck would have it amazing opportunities started to present themselves and I transformed them into my show "Hockey Talk with Courtney"

I have had a lot of new traffic and viewers to my site lately and I wanted to refresh everyone with what got me into this fabulous game.  Since this weekend for me revolved around running between Rogers Arena for Canuck scrimmages (something we have been doing together for 3 years now.  Hunter just loves them) and rinks around town for Hunter's practices it was a hockey filled weekend.  Before the NHL season starts I thought I would take a moment to remind everyone that hockey is FUN!  Fun is the #1 rule Hunter's coach told him Friday evening at the rink.  Rule #2 was respect everyone and Rule #3 was try your best.  Hunter and another child made up rules #4 and #5.  #4 was no body checking (Hunter's) and #5 was no fighting (by the other child) So there you have it.  Please enjoy the photos below and of course enjoy hockey!  Also I have posted an episode of "Hockey Talk with Courtney" it is has my segment about how to fill a hockey bag which came in very handy for me as I organized Hunter's hockey bag this year!

Vancouver Canucks scrimmage Satruday morning at Rogers Arena. Tickets were FREE and it was beyond fun. Fans found seats inside. They just kept coming. By the end of it over 10 sections were full! It was loud and it was FUN!

Warm up begins. Lou was the first player on the ice and the crowd went nuts. Alex Edler joined him a few minutes later. But Ryan Kesler and Alex Burrows got the most cheering from fans when they stepped on the ice.

Jannik Hansen skated the puck bag over at the end of warm up. No matter what league you play in "Ice Mice" or NHL you pick up your pucks. That puck bag has quite the life.

Thank God at Rogers Arena Saturday morning the staff handed out sheets with ALL of the players info. Besides the veteran Canucks there were players from all over including the AHL and Europe. All players drafted by the Canucks over the years. It was busy and this list helped me a lot!

Exciting news in Canada's capital Ottawa!  Finally a new Captain has been named!  The honour goes to Jason Spezza who some people believe is one of the most underrated players in the league.

Spezza will be taking over for Daniel Alfredsson who left Ottawa and signed a contract with the Detroit Red Wings.

Few Quick Stats about Spezza:
1) Stands 6'3" and weight 213 pounds
2) Drafted 2nd overall by the Senators in 2001
3) Plays centre and shoots right
4) Born in Toronto and plays in Ottawa (guessing his family can make it to A LOT of games)
5) Has played 611 games in the NHL
6) Has scored 228 goals and assisted 393 others for 621 points total.  Making Spezza a point a game player
7) Possibly the best fun fact of all?  Spezza won a modelling contract when he was one and as a child modeled for department stores and was in a few commercials!

Come back and visit again for information on preseason, the division shuffling and another delicious hockey game watching recipe!!
